RSPB is looking for volunteers ages 12 to 17 who would like to join their Youth Council The Youth Council is an advisory committee comprised of 10 representatives of the RSPB’s teenage membership, that provides a youth perspective and a youth voice on projects and issues that the RSPB is working on. Quoich Bridge Replaced and Car Park Reopened

News from Mar Lodge Estate: Following floods in 2015 which changed the course of the Quoich, the replacement Allanaquoich Bridge has now been completed. The bridge is located 50m upstream from the site of the previous bridge. The car park is on the west side of the river as before. The bridge is for the use of walkers, cyclists and horses. New path at Achlean, Glen Feshie

We’ve heard from the farmer at Achlean that there has been a new path alignment within Achlean to access Glenfeshie which is well signposted and adds no extra time or distance to the walk.  Apparently the majority of people are now using this new route but they notice that all the DofE groups are not because their maps are keeping them on the old route which is also causing confusion for them.  This new route was put in place partly to keep folk walking dogs away from sheep at the farm.  New path marked in red Continue reading New path at Achlean, Glen Feshie

Barnardo’s now a volunteering AAP

There are probably already a good number of Aberdeenshire DofE participants volunteering at Barnardo’s, who is now an Approved Activity Provider for the DofE Volunteering section. Participants can volunteer in a shop, work directly with children and young people, or become a fundraiser or student volunteer. As an AAP, DofE Leaders and participants can be certain that participants will receive a quality volunteering experience with Barnardo’s that meets the criteria of the DofE Volunteering section.
